A Red Letter Christmas

I love, love, love the Poppystamps background dies.  It's easy to create lovely cards with very little effort.  That said, this is what I made and this is how I made it. 

I guess I'm pretty traditional.  I like red and green for Christmas.  I wanted to add a bit of sparkle to the background, and I didn't have any red glitter paper.  So, I made my own. 

These are the tools I used and this is what I did.  I took 2 inch double stick tape and taped one side to white cardstock.  I then trimmed it to make sure no tape was exposed on the under side. 

I then peeled off the protective covering and poured glitter on the sticky tape.  I then covered the piece with a scrap of typing paper and rolled over the glittered piece. 

I then choose the dies I would be cutting and rubbed waxed paper over the die.  Make sure you do this and you really rub.  I then cut the die……

See, it works….I repeated this process and attempted to die cut the Frozen Flake die.  Did you catch the word attempted?  Well guess what I forgot to do….yup, rub the die with waxed paper.  If you look at the Viviro Ornament, you will see there really isn't a snowflake inisde….I was able to save part of the Frozen Flake die cut, and I used it inside the ornament. 

And I was able to use another of the pieces here…..on the inside of the card…..

The Viviro Ornament was very easy to remove from the die.  So, if you try this, make sure you don't forget the waxed paper….The glitter border on the inside of the card was made by running a piece of cardstock through my Xyron and then putting glitter on the sticky tape.  The glitter did stick, but not as well as it had on the double stick tape.  I wasn't too worried as most of the glitter was covered. by the white cardstock.  I also used a bit of extra glitter sheet under the Merry Christmas on the front of the card, and I cut a bit to use as trim.  I like how well the embossing folders work to give texture to plain cardstock.
