Autumn, Background Dies

The Blitz is going strong with all the beautiful and inspiring ideas using the dies from the latest Poppystamps Holiday release! I decided to make a card using the Maple Leaf as the focal point of this card.  I love how the three new fall leaf dies give a solid die cut as well as an outline.

For this card, I cut two of the Maple Leaf die, one in green, and the other in a peachy orange.  I created the background using the negative from the cut Maple Leaf as a stencil.  I randomly sponged the leaves on a piece of white cardstock, overlapping them as I went, using Dried Marigold, Shabby Shutters, and Scattered Straw Distress Inks.  I added just a touch of Barn Door Distress Ink here and there to create dimension.  I edged the card stock piece with Scattered Straw, and used Peeled Paint for the background splatter.  I sponged some Barn Door and Peeled Paint inks onto the green leaf, and on the lighter leaf, I sponged Dried Marigold, Peeled Paint and a touch of Barn Door, then edged both with Peeled Paint.  After adhering the background piece to the card front, I adhered the outline of the Maple leaf first so that the edges overlapped onto the border.  I arranged the two leaves as shown, adhering with mounting tape, then cut two of the Pine Garland and used pieces of them as accents.  I adhered the script “Thank You” from the Thank You Background die to the bottom of the card, and of course finished it off with a little bling.

  38. What a great card this and can be used for any fall occasion. When I create my cards I leave the front and inside greeting blank. When I am giving the card to someone I use a greeting for their occasion such as thanks, just a note, or happy birthday card. This makes a great masculine card for any occasion. I am very impressed with these fall dies.
